A Night Elf Or Tauren Story Should Be The Next World Of Warcraft Expansion Focus
Updated: Jan 24, 2023
With Shattered Legacies cinematic released, and Shadowlands soon to end, World of Warcraft should highlight the lore of its classic races more.

World of Warcraft has the greatest stories in video game history. But as modern time comes, Blizzard is still focusing on characters we all are familiar with already. Humans had their Lich King and Varian tales, Orcs shined during Warlords and also gave Garrosh a valiant chronicle, and now Blood Elves with Sylvanas reflecting her old self from being a mind-controlled Undead Banshee. The next expansion should focus more on these races.
Night Elves
With Teldrassil being burned down, it can be followed up with a great storyline for the next expansions, with Anduin in the Jailer’s command. Tyrande Whisperwind should be the best fit to rule for the Alliance, being a veteran in Azeroth for a very long time, she should have an Expansion focus Story like what Thrall, and Varian had before. We can see how far her character and their race have evolved all throughout Warcraft's history. Fans would be happy to see how Night Elves prepare and encounter wars and battles like we used to visit from the Orcs & Humans, every race from Azeroth has different characteristics. It would be nice to see the Night Elves have the spotlight, and see them lead the Alliance.
Taurens
This was my very first character created in World of Warcraft. I love Taurens, just looking at them speaks of fantasy and Warcraft's presence. I think Baine Bloodhoof being the next Warchief could still make sense, it can be a parallel of Garrosh's story of both sons of a great Warcraft Legends; Grommash Hellscream & Cairne Bloodhoof. Putting Baine in the position of Warchief will create many creative angles for a story. To lead the Horde, make up for Sylvanas' mistakes, and will position on how a Tauren lead its people and their qualities differ so much from the previous leaders of the Horde. Humans and Orcs should not only be qualified to lead their factions.
Dwarves
In the first cinematic of World of Warcraft, "Vanilla", we saw a dwarf hunter with a bear companion. They are very solid and strong looking, speaks Warcraft when you see them. Dwarves are nowhere to be found on any major stories in recent expansions, a little bit in Legion, but mostly it was for Velen and Illidan. Dwarves deserve more and have rich stories throughout Warcraft's history. From Muradin's exploration with Arthas to Magni's crystalization during Cataclysm, dwarves are now very left out in Warcraft stories. Wherever the next expansion may be, hopefully, we can see more about the Dwarves.
Trolls
Remember how cool the Gods of Zul'Aman are? I think anyone who plays World of Warcraft loves that cinematic, and how cool Trolls can be. Vol’Jin becoming Warchief could’ve been the next step for a Troll image to be the face of the Horde, but being killed off two expansions later, and having no focus in Warlord of Draenor, was a very waste of opportunity to further value the advancement of Vol'Jin as Horde's Warchief. Though it was followed up a little bit in Battle for Azeroth because of the Zandalari storyline, a World of Warcraft story involving the trolls would be very interesting and fresh again with more depth. With new characters like Zekhan introduced, there are so many clever ways a Troll centered story could be.
